Georgios Anthimidis – Curriculum Vitae
Georgios Anthimidis was born and raised in Thessaloniki. He studied at the Department of Medicine of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He is trained in Surgery and received a Master’s degree in Medical Research Methodology in the area of Clinical Research with the grade “EXCELLENT”.
Within the framework of the New Postgraduate Studies Programme of Medicine, he received postgraduate training in the subject of SURGICAL ONCOLOGY. He received a Doctoral Degree with the grade “EXCELLENT” and was awarded a Doctor of Medicine, with a field of knowledge related to BREAST CANCER. He was awarded the title of ADVANCED TRAUMA LIFE SUPPORT COURSE (ATLS) as well as of the “SPECIALIZED TREATMENT OF THE INJURED PATIENT” course and has acquired surgical skills in the: “USE OF NEW STAPLING TOOLS IN THE OPEN – LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY OF DIGESTIVE SYSTEM”.
He has received the best oral presentation award for the project entitled: PROCALCITONIN OF THE SERUM AS AN INDICATOR OF INTESTINAL ISCHEMIA IN OBSTRUCTIVE ILEUS OF THE SMALL INTESTINE AND THE COLON (experimental study) at the 22nd NORTH-HELLENIC MEDICAL CONFERENCE.
He has worked, for six years, on the subject of Breast Cancer, received a Doctoral Degree with the grade “EXCELLENT” and was awarded a Doctor of Medicine, with a field of knowledge related to BREAST CANCER. He has been awarded an honorary praise for his outstanding research activity by the Medical School of the AUTh.
He has received an Advanced Education Certification on Oncoplastic Breast Surgery by the European Society of Surgical Oncology [Advanced Course on Oncoplastic Breast Surgery – The European Society of Surgical Oncology – Barcelona (SP) 2017]. He is an officially recognized member of the Hellenic Senologic Society, the European Society of Mastology/Breast Cancer Specialists and the European Society of Surgical Oncology, while remaining an active member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
Quality assurance in breast surgery according to the most up-to-date international standards (USA, Columbia) is documented by his official collaboration with the MASTERY OF BREAST SURGERY programme of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, which includes only 3% of the international surgeons.
He is the author of more than 180 papers in the international and Greek medical journals, as well as in international and Greek conferences, while he has participated in the 93rd Annual Clinical Congress (American College of Surgeons, October 7-11, 2007, New Orleans, LA).
During all these years, he also holds speeches at conferences and workshops, takes part in the organization of educational programs of pan-Hellenic conferences of the Panhellenic Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery and of Surgical Society of Northern Greece.
Today, Georgios Anthimidis lives in Thessaloniki, runs a private practice and operates on the basis of the principles of the Department of Surgery, Washington University, School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri and of Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas.
